The Nominating Committee consists of a Chair and three (3) members. The Nominating Committee members are not elected; the committee members are comprised of DAK’s Chair, DAK’s Vice Chair, DAK’s former Chair, and an Executive Board member.

Nergis Uyan

Nergis Uyan graduated from the Middle East Technical University’s Foreign Language Education Department and she received her MA in Management in Education from Bilkent University. She completed Cambridge University DTEFLA (Diploma in Teaching of English as a Foreign Language to Adults) and Bilkent University ADEM (Advanced Diploma in English Language Teaching Management).

She worked in several positions at Bilkent University School of English Language (BUSEL) including English Language Instructor, Head of Teaching Unit, Teacher Development Coordinator, Teacher Trainer and Member of BUSEL Directorate. She has been working as the director of the Ozyegin University School of Languages (ScOLa) since February 2010.

Nergis Uyan has been working in EAQUALS (European Association for Quality Language Services) initial and re-accreditation process of ÖzyeÄŸin School of Languages (PREP Program, Undergraduate English Program and Modern Languages Program) since 2016. She has also joined the EQUALS Board as a trustee in 2018 April.

Mehmet Atasagun​

 

Mehmet Atasagun is the director of the School of Foreign Languages at BahçeÅŸehir University (BAU), Istanbul, and the director of BAU TÜRKMER, Center for Turkish as a Second/Foreign Language.  He holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching (ELT), Master's degrees in ELT and Educational Studies, and is doing his PhD in Foreign Language Education.  He has designed and implemented English Language programs in the USA, Canada, the UK, Germany, Cyprus and Georgia within BAU ESL Program, which enables BAU students to study English abroad.  He has also designed and managed various coursebook projects, teacher-training programs, and technology enhanced language learning programs.  He took the 'Trainer Development Course' offered by the British Council.   He has been involved in quality assurance and accreditation as the director of the school which delivers a CEA accredited Intensive English Program.  He is also a founding member of DEDAK, an association for language education, evaluation and accreditation in Turkey.

Dr. Hacer Sivil

​

Dr. Hacer Åživil has been working as a language teacher for more than 20 years at various schools ranging from high school to university and from state to

foundation institutions. Since 2006, she has been working at Istanbul Technical University School of Foreign Languages (ITU SFL), where she has served as a vice-director, dual-diploma program coordinator, accreditation self-study coordinator, steering committee member, and language instructor. She has also coordinated task group meetings and needs analysis studies. Considering the needs of the SFL, she has contributed to the establishment of some academic offices like the Statistical Analysis Office and Academic Writing Center. On behalf of the SFL, Ms. Åživil coordinated the processes for Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). She led the SFL steering committee for its initial accreditation and reaccreditation for Undergraduate English Preparatory Program (UPP) and Dual Diploma Preparatory Program (DDP), and the School was granted accreditation between 2012 -2017 and 2017-2027 by CEA.

 

Ms. Åživil has attended some certificate and diploma programs related to language education, trainer training, learning technologies, and language accreditation both in Turkey and abroad including England, the USA, and Canada, and has provided presentations. Besides, Ms. Åživil is a trained and experienced CEA site reviewer and has been working on the establishment and development of the Commission for Language Education Evaluation and Accreditation (DEDAK) as a founding member  since 2012.

Ian Collins

​

Ian Collins is the Academic Assistant Director of the School of Foreign Languages at YaÅŸar University in Turkey, where he has been a faculty member since 2009. He has extensive experience as a teacher and administrator, helping develop both the IEP program as well as the English for Academic Purposes courses at YaÅŸar. He is also currently the program coordinator for YaÅŸar’s EAP and Modern Languages courses and teaches English for Specific Lega Purposes in the Faculty of Law. Ian’s Master’s in Education degree focused on educational change management and accreditation and he has presented and published regularly on language program management and accreditation issues in Turkey and internationally at TESOL and IATEFL conventions. He led YaÅŸar IEP’s steering committee for its initial Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) application in 2010-11, and was then the self-study coordinator for its re-accreditation in 2015-16. Ian is also an experienced trained CEA site reviewer and a current CEA Commissioner.

Meltem Åžeref

Dr. Meltem Åžeref is currently working as Curriculum Development Unit Coordinator in TOBB University of Economics and Technology. She earned her BA degree from the department of English Language Teaching at Middle East Technical University in 2008, her MA degree from the department of Curriculum and Instruction at Middle East Technical University in 2013 and her doctoral degree from the department of Curriculum and Instruction at Ankara University in 2019. Her research interests include learner empowerment, curriculum development, material design and critical pedagogy.
